Staff size and rastral numbers
Printed music uses standardised staff sizes called rastral numbers, where the measurement is the distance between the outer two lines. Professional engraved scores sit around 7 mm; teaching material and children's books run larger, 9 to 11 mm. The spacing control here sets the gap between adjacent lines, so a 2.5 mm setting gives a 10 mm staff.
Leave room above and below
Beginners almost always choose staves too close together and then run out of room for ledger lines, dynamics, fingering and lyrics. The default gap between staves is generous on purpose. If you are writing anything with words underneath, open it further still.
What this is not
These are single staves, not grand staff pairs braced together for piano, and there are no clefs — you draw those yourself. That is deliberate: pre-printed clefs commit the page to one instrument, and blank staves stay useful for theory homework, sight-singing exercises, transposition drills and quick transcription alike.
Printing it accurately
This only measures correctly if your printer doesn't rescale the page. In the print dialog set Scale: 100% — not "Fit to page" or "Shrink oversized pages". If you're not sure it worked, print the calibration page, measure the ruler on it with a real ruler, and it will tell you exactly what your printer is doing to the page.
